Father’s Day allows us to celebrate and honor the father figures who make a difference in our lives. I love homemade gifts, but I remember how busy parenting is. So, I was determined to find something fun that could be made quickly. Our chocolate Mustaches fit the bill, and Dad is bound to love them. They are also great for those of us scrambling to make something at the last minute.

The mustaches are easy to make and look cute, wrapped in a cellophane treat bag. We have also included a free printable gift tag to simplify things even more. We did not use the word “Dad” on the tag, so it can be gifted to all caring adults who step into the role of caregiver and mentor.

A Quick Word Of Caution

The recipe is so straightforward that older children can easily make them. I’m all for seeing kids get comfortable in the kitchen. However, melted chocolate can get hot enough to burn. Please supervise your children during the melting process and provide guidance when handling the hot chocolate. Ensure your kids understand the potential danger and follow safety precautions while working together in the kitchen. Doing so will create a safe and enjoyable experience for the whole family.

Insert the lollipop sticks into the space provided in the mold. Ensure the top of the stick reaches almost to the top of the mustache.

bowl of melted chocolate with bowl of chopped nuts

Place the chocolate wafers in a microwave-safe bowl and melt them in the microwave for 30 seconds. Then, continue microwaving in 20-second intervals, stirring in between, until entirely melted.

If you prefer the double-boiler method, place a heatproof bowl over a pot of simmering water and melt the dark brown chocolate, occasionally stirring until smooth.

Mix in your finely chopped nuts of choice.

Spoon the chocolate mixture into the molds, starting over the stick and spreading it to all corners. Ensure the stick is covered entirely to prevent the chocolates from falling off.

Place the mold on a baking sheet and transfer it to the fridge. Allow the chocolate to set and become completely solid, which takes about 30-40 minutes.
