What You Need To Make Strawberry Lemonade Popsicles

strawberries, lemons, water and agave nectar

FRESH OR FROZEN STRAWBERRIES: Strawberries, the star ingredient in these Strawberry Lemonade Popsicles, are delicious and packed with natural sweetness and vibrant color.

Whether you use fresh or frozen strawberries, their sweet and tangy flavor will infuse your popsicles with a burst of summer freshness that everyone will enjoy.

LEMON JUICE: The fresh lemon juice in this recipe adds a zesty tang to balance out the sweetness of the strawberries, creating a refreshing and natural flavor combination that is perfect for summer.

CORN SYRUP OR AGAVE: Corn syrup or agave provide just the right amount of sweetness without overpowering the natural flavor of the strawberries and lemon.

You can use honey as a substitute if you prefer. However, do not give anything containing honey to children under one, as it can cause infant botulism.

Wash and hull the strawberries if you are using fresh ones.

Add them to the blender with the water, lemon juice, and sweetener.

blending everything together

Blend everything together until smooth, ensuring no chunks are left. Blend in short bursts rather than one long continuous blend. This ensures that all the ingredients are evenly mixed and prevent overheating.

If the mixture is too thick, add more water or lemon juice to help it blend smoothly. Conversely, if it’s too thin, you can add more strawberries.

Tip: Place the liquid ingredients at the bottom of the blender, then add the strawberries on top to ensure they blend more easily.

Now, it’s time to pour the mixture into the popsicle molds. If you’re using a mold, gently pour the mixture up to the fill line, leaving a bit of space for expansion. Cover with the popsicle covers.

Tip: Filling popsicle molds can be tricky for kids, so using a funnel is a great way to simplify the process and minimize mess. Your child can pour the mixture through the funnel and help fill the molds without spills.

Pop the molds in the freezer for at least six hours or until frozen solid. As tempting as it may be, resist the urge to check on your popsicles before the six hours is up. They must be fully frozen before you try to remove them, or they may break.

Some Fun Alternatives For A Different Flavor

TRY USING LIME OR ORANGE INSTEAD OF LEMON! If you’re in the mood for something different, try using lime or orange juice instead of lemon for a zesty twist on these popsicles. Both go well with strawberries; mixing things up is a fun way to add variety.

ADD YOGURT INSTEAD OF WATER For a creamier, richer texture, substitute water with yogurt to create delicious strawberry creamsicles.

TRY OTHER BERRIES You can also experiment with other berries like blueberries, raspberries, or blackberries to create a different fruity flavor profile. Delicious!

ADD A TROPICAL FLAVOR For a tropical twist, try using coconut water instead of lemonade to make strawberry coconut popsicles that are perfect for a hot summer day.

Strawberry Lemonade Popsicle FAQs

What Is The Best Popsicle Mold?

This is my favorite popsicle mold. It’s made of food-grade silicone and makes ten popsicles at a time, so you can make up a good batch. I love the reusable sticks with lids that hold the sticks straight every single time.

One of my favorite things about this mold is how easy it is to get the popsicles out. The silicone material is flexible and non-stick, and it is simple to squeeze the popsicle out. The mold has a silicone funnel to make the filling more manageable and has a brush.

Can You Make Popsicles Without A Mold?

Use paper cups and popsicle sticks in place of commercial molds. Fill them up about three-quarters of the way, then cover them with foil and poke the popsicle sticks or straws through the center of the foil.

It’s easy to remove the popsicle, just peel away the cup and enjoy! They may take a little longer to freeze, though.

How Long Do Strawberry Lemonade Popsicles Last?

Because homemade popsicles don’t contain as many preservatives as store-bought ones, they tend to have a shorter shelf life.

Don’t keep them in the freezer for longer than 6 weeks to ensure their freshness. Once you remove them from the freezer, enjoy them as soon as possible, as they tend to melt quickly in warmer temperatures.

Is There A Trick To Removing The Popsicle From The Mold?

For easy removal of the popsicles from the molds, try running the outside of the mold under cold water for a few seconds. Then, grip the stick firmly and gently wiggle the popsicles from side to side until they come loose.
