Father’s Day is all about celebrating the special men in our lives, and what better way to do that than with a homemade card?

I still remember spending time as a child carefully making a card for my Dad, choosing the right colors, and thinking about what to write inside.

It was a simple gesture, but it meant so much to both of us. Watching my own kids do the same brought back those sweet memories.

Kids love giving their dads something special on this day, but let’s be honest—most younger children don’t have much money to spend, and they can’t go shopping alone. Have you seen the price of store-bought cards lately? It’s crazy!

So, I created this free printable Father’s Day card to color as an easy, budget-friendly way for kids to make something meaningful.

This printable is a great option for busy parents and teachers looking for a fun yet simple craft.

It’s an easy activity that encourages creativity while making a keepsake that dads will treasure. Whether looking for something quick for the classroom or a last-minute DIY at home, this project will surely be a hit!

How To Assemble Our Father’s Day Card

Print the template: For best results, use cardstock to make the card more durable. Paper is fine if you don’t have cardstock on hand.

Decorate the figure: Encourage children to add personal touches like hair, glasses, or a mustache to make it look like their Dad.

Decorate the tie: They can also color the tie as they wish. On the knot of the tie, fill in the recipient’s name.

Write a heartfelt message: On the second tie, kids can write a special note, a fun joke, or something they love about their Dad.

Cut out both ties: Carefully cut along the outlines of each tie.

The Inside Tie Card

Give your children free rein with the inside. Do you have kids who can’t write yet? They can decorate it with stickers or stamps, or you can act as a scribe for their special message.

Older children can write their own heartfelt notes. Help them by brainstorming ideas. Need some inspiration? Here are a few ideas to get them started:

  • I love you, Dad/Grandpa/Uncle!
  • To the best Dad/Grandpa ever!
  • Happy Father’s Day to the greatest Dad in the whole world.
  • Dad, you make me smile! Happy Father’s Day!
  • I love you because… (list the reasons!)
