What’s In Patriotic Pretzels?
Only 3 ingredients!

Pretzel Rods: These are long, stick-shaped pretzels that serve as the base for the candy coating. Their size and shape make them easy to dip and decorate, while their salty flavor complements the sweet coating.
Candy Melts: These versatile, colored confectionery disks melt easily and harden with a smooth surface. You’ll need red, white, and blue candy melts.
Patriotic Sprinkles: Often in the shape of stars and in the colors of the American flag, these sprinkles add a festive touch to the pretzel rods. They enhance the appearance and add a little extra texture to each bite.

How To Make Patriotic Pretzels
Prepare Your Workspace
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to set the pretzel rods on after dipping.
Melting the Candy

Start by melting the candy melts. Work with one color at a time to keep things organized.
Place ½ cup of the desired color of candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl.
Microwave at 50% power or on the melting chocolate setting for 30 seconds. Stir and continue microwaving in 30-second bursts. Stir well in between, until the melts are completely smooth.
Dipping the Pretzels

Dip one pretzel rod at a time into the bowl of melted candy. Tilt the bowl as needed and use a spoon to ensure an even coat covering about half the length of the pretzel rod or to your preference.
Tap excess candy off before transferring the pretzel rod to the parchment paper.
Adding the Sprinkles

Decorate your pretzel rod with patriotic sprinkles while the candy coating is still wet. Either sprinkle them by hand or roll the wet, candy-coated section of the pretzel rod in a bowl filled with sprinkles.
Setting the Candy
Allow the candy melts to harden at room temperature, which should take about 15-30 minutes. You can speed this up by placing the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes.

Serving and Storing:
Serve the pretzel rods once the candy melts have fully set. If not serving immediately, store them in an airtight container at room temperature to prevent the pretzels from getting soft.

Variations On The Patriotic Pretzels
Of course, you can vary the sprinkles to give the patriotic pretzels a totally different look.
If you want to get fancier, try using more than one color.
In the picture below, we dipped the rods in white chocolate. Once that hardened, we dipped the tips in blue and covered in white stars. Finally, we drizzled red stripes over the remaining white chocolate.

You can also use twisted pretzels. Use a fork to dip them in the chocolate.

Tips For Making Patriotic Pretzels
- If your candy melts are too thick for easy dipping, add a teaspoon of vegetable or coconut oil and stir well. This will help achieve a smoother, more manageable consistency for coating the pretzels.
- After dipping your pretzel in the candy melt, hold it over the bowl for a few seconds to let any excess drip off. This prevents the formation of thick pools of candy at the base of the pretzel, ensuring a neat finish.
- Apply the sprinkles immediately after coating the pretzels with chocolate. Some types of chocolate harden quickly; if you wait too long, the sprinkles may not stick properly. Work with small batches.
- To avoid pretzels sticking and breaking when you try to remove them, lay them on a non-stick surface like parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to set. This makes removal easy and keeps your pretzels looking great.

In conclusion, these patriotic pretzels are a delicious and festive addition to any red, white, and blue celebration. They are quick and easy to prepare and perfect for party snacks. So, grab your sprinkles and get ready to impress your guests with these delicious and colorful snacks. Don’t forget to pin this post so you can easily find it later
