Materials To Make The Clothespin Birds

- Wooden spring clothespins
- Acrylic craft paint (we used red, but you can use any color)
- Small googly eyes
- Glue
- Small fluffy feathers
- Orange felt square
- Scissors
- Paintbrush
How To Make Clothespin Birds

Paint those Clothespins Red: Grab your red paint and let your kids go wild painting the clothespins. Once they’re all painted, set them aside to dry while you gather the rest of your supplies.

Add Some Feathery Fun: Now comes the really fun part—adding feathers! Invite your kids to choose about 3 feathers! Clip the feathers into place. You can glue them into place if you wish.

Eyes that Shine: It’s time to give our birds some personality! Have your kids stick on those googly eyes using glue. Watch as their little creations start to come to life!

Crafting Beaks: Grab the orange felt square and scissors, and help your kids cut out tiny beak shapes. This part is perfect for fine motor skills practice!
Attach the Beaks: Using a dot of glue, have your kids attach the beaks just below the eyes. It’s amazing how such a small detail can make such a big difference!

Let Them Dry and Display: Once your little birdies are crafted, set them aside to dry. Then, find the perfect spot to display their handiwork—maybe on a windowsill or as a centerpiece on the dinner table!

Let Your Creativity Soar!
This is an easy craft and would be a great project for groups of kids. We happened to have red paint and feathers, but You can use any color you like.
There is no rule that says the feathers must match the bird’s color, either. Give your kids free rein to do what they want.
