Character Development

Every parent wants to raise a child with good character, but it’s easy to feel unsure of where to start.

Character isn’t something kids pick up on their own. It grows through the small moments, the way you respond when they’re frustrated, and the habits you build together at home.

This category is full of character-building activities for kids, along with the everyday parenting approaches that support them.

You’ll find ways to help your child develop a positive attitude, handle disappointment without falling apart, and treat other people with kindness and respect.

Some posts focus on specific traits like patience or gratitude. Others tackle harder moments, like discipline, boredom, and the ordinary friction of family life, and how to handle them in a way that builds your child up instead of shutting them down.

After 40 years working with kids, I’ve watched character develop the same way academic skills do: through repetition, modeling, and a lot of patience.

The good news is you don’t need a curriculum for any of it. Small, consistent choices at home do more than most people realize.
