Ingredients for 4th of July Jello Shots

- Blue Jell-O (1 box, e.g., berry blue): Forms the bottom layer.
- Red Jell-O (1 box, e.g., cherry or strawberry): This creates the top layer with a classic red color and a sweet taste kids love.
- Unflavored gelatin (2 packets): This is used in the white layer to create a stable, creamy middle that holds its shape.
- Sweetened condensed milk (1 can, 14 oz) adds sweetness and a creamy texture to the white middle layer.
- Whipped cream: Adds a fun, fluffy topping that makes the Jello shots feel extra special.
- Red, white, and blue sprinkles add a festive touch, making these perfect for the 4th of July.
- You will also need 40-50 1 oz shot glasses.
How to Make 4th of July Jello Shots
Step 1: Blue Layer (Bottom)

Let’s kick things off with that bright blue base! Empty a box of berry blue Jell-O into a bowl, add 1 cup of boiling water, and stir until it’s completely dissolved.
Then, pour in 1 cup of cold water to cool it down. Divide it between your shot glasses, filling each about a third of the way.
Pop them in the fridge and let them chill for 3–4 hours or until they’re set and firm to the touch.
Step 2: White Layer (Middle)

Once the blue layer is fully set (and we mean fully—don’t rush it!), you can start on the white layer.
Sprinkle two packets of unflavored gelatin over ½ cup of cold water and let it sit for a few minutes to bloom.
Next, whisk in 1 cup of boiling water until the gelatin dissolves completely.
Slowly add the sweetened condensed milk. Let the whole thing cool to room temperature, so it doesn’t melt the blue layer.
When it’s ready, pour gently over the blue layer, filling the next third of each cup. Back into the fridge, they go for another 3–4 hours.
Step 3: Red Layer (Top)

Almost there! Dissolve a box of cherry or strawberry Jell-O in 1 cup of boiling water, then stir in 1 cup of cold water.
Carefully add the red mixture to top off the cups. Chill one last time for 3–4 hours or overnight if you’re prepping ahead.
Step 4: Toppings (The Fun Part!)

Just before serving, add a swirl of whipped cream to each shot. Then sprinkle on some red, white, and blue magic. It’s a party in a cup—and a huge hit with kids!

Mom Tip:
Don’t rush the chilling time for nice, clean layers. Each layer needs a solid 3–4 hours in the fridge to fully set before you add the next one.
If a layer is still soft, the colors might bleed together. If it helps, you can make these over two days—just pop each layer in the fridge and return to it when you have time!

Can You Make An Adult Version?
Yes, you can add alcohol to the red and blue layers. Instead of adding a cup of cold water, add half a cup of vodka and half a cup of cold water.

Can You Use Larger Glasses?
Yes, you can certainly use larger glasses. Of course, this will make fewer servings and may take longer to set.

Our 4th of July Jello Shots are festive, fun, and guaranteed to be a hit with kids and adults alike.
They’re easy to make, perfect for parties, and so much fun to serve.
